The season of vegetable harvesting will start in a week in the greenhouse complexes of Ukraine

The greenhouse complexes of Ukraine report that a warmer winter let many of them harvest the greenhouse vegetables 1-2 weeks earlier than usually. Some complexes plan to launch first shipments of the greenhouse cucumbers on market early February 2007. The active supplies of this product are planned for mid February.

The greenhouse tomatoes will ripen a little bit later. However, the greenhouse complexes will start selling this product significantly earlier as well: the first shipments are expected to enter the market by February 10th-15th 2007. To the opinion of the analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, the wholesale shipments of the first greenhouse products of the national origin will be sold for $0.39-0.78/kg more expensive than Turkish produce. The introduction of the first shipments of Ukrainian greenhouse vegetables on market will lead to the demand decrease for Turkish cucumbers and tomatoes. In its turn, this fact can stimulate the price decrease for these commodities.
