Greenhouse cucumber of the national origin force imported produce out of Ukrainian market

The supply of the greenhouse cucumber continues increasing on Ukrainian market. The wholesale shipments of the greenhouse cucumber were offered for sale predominantly on Kyiv markets in the beginning of this week. One can observe the same produce practically in all regions of the country today. This information is provided by the experts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal.

The sales prices of the national greenhouse complexes are 70-90% higher in average comparing to the prices of the imported cucumber of Turkish origin.

As of today, Turkish cucumber is sold for $1.88-2.27/kg; the prices for the national greenhouse cucumber reach the level of $2.77-3.36/kg.

The specialists say that the shipments of the national product are not large at the present moment. Despite of the high prices, the demand for Ukrainian cucumber is high mostly due to its good quality. At the same time, the vendors point out relatively low sales volumes for Turkish cucumber.
