Ukraine: the sales volumes of imported cucumber reduce

According to information provided by the specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, the reduction of the imported cucumber sales volumes is recorded on Ukrainian markets. At the present moment both national cucumber and cucumber of Turkish origin are marketed in the country. The demand for the imported product is gradually declining; the buyers prefer buying the cucumbers of the national origin more frequently.

According to information provided by the market players, the quality of the recent Turkish cucumber shipments is relatively low. At the same time, the quality of the national produce is on the high level. The national complexes sell cucumber for $2.4-2.8/kg at the present moment. In their turn, the importers are constantly decreasing the sales prices in view of the low quality of the supplied product. The prices for the imported cucumber are up to $1.8-2.2/kg.

The gradual growth of the sales volumes is observed at the present moment for the national cucumber; this fact hampers the sales of the imported produce. Imported cucumbers go spoiling quickly so that the basis for the sales price reconsideration downwards is created. The market players point out that the volumes of the outsized cucumber of Turkish origin have increased recently, so that the vendors reduce prices down to $0.2-0.6/kg to sell this product.

At the same time, the market players point out the increasing sales volumes for the national cucumber in the retail chains: the prices for this product vary $3.2/kg to $3.8/kg.
