The circle of the countries - importers of Ukrainian onion is extending

According to information provided by the specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, the geography of the supplies of the national onion is gradually getting wider. The major part of Ukrainian onion was earlier exported to Poland and Russia; at the present moment the companies from Moldova and Romania are interested in this product supplies. The volumes of onion shipments are relatively small in this case, so that the exporters mentioned the purchase prices to be on the level of $0.16-0.18/kg. They also set rather rigid requirements to the produce quality.

This fact is positive for many onion producers in Ukraine because it has become possible to relieve the tension on the national onion market mainly due to the export shipments this season. Otherwise, the price collapse was actually inevitable on the inner market if the record data of the harvested volumes were taken into consideration. At the same time, many producers specialize on the modern technologies of onion storage; from their point of view, the prices suggested by the inner market and by the exporters are insufficiently high. These producers are still restraining the produce sales; they hope the prices will occupy the more appealing position in the beginning of spring.
