Orchards bloomed later in Crimea than in Kyiv this year
According to information provided by the periodical of CIS produce business, ""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal", the abnormal weather conditions led to the unusual situation this year. The orchards in the central and western regions of Ukraine started to bloom earlier than the orchards in AR Crimea. This situation is the result of a rather cold April in Crimea; most fruit trees are starting to bloom right now in the steppe rayons of Crimea.
The specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal think that the reduced vegetation period may lead to a certain decline of the yield potential for Crimean fruits. Also, there will be almost no early warm-loving fruits in Crimea, such as peach, nectarine and apricot. These fruits have severely suffered from February frosts.
Moreover, the threat of the frost injury still exists for other fruits, because May frosts can damage such fruit trees like sweet cherry, sour cherry, apple, pear and plum. Yet, according to the data of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, no frosts are forecasted for the next week in Crimea.
