Zakarpattya has the lowest prices for early vegetables and strawberry

The specialists of ""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal" evaluate that the lowest prices for early vegetables and early strawberry are being formed now in Zakarpattya oblast of Ukraine. To the experts' opinion, this fact is stipulated by a great number of small vegetable producers, who specialize on early produce growing under agrifiber and film, taking the advantages of the local warm climate. At the same time, the distance from Zakarpattya to main regions of early produce consumption is rather great; this fact affects the prices for fresh produce in the region.

At the present moment "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal informs that early cabbage can possibly be purchased $0.04/kg cheaper in Zakarpattya comparing to the other southern regions of the country. The wholesale prices for early strawberry have also decreased down to $2/kg in the region; at the same time, the prices are still kept on level of $2.4-3/kg in the other regions.

It is worth mentioning that the prices for early produce in the southern oblasts (Odesa, Kherson, Zaporizhzhya oblasts, AR Crimea) are daily decreasing now due to warm sunny weather set in Ukraine. At the same time, the moisture deficit is obvious in most regions of Ukraine: this fact can affect the yield of vegetables, fruits and berries of medium and late terms of ripening.
