Harvest of medium and late vegetables can suffer from drought

According to information of the experts of ""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal", hot and dry weather in most regions of Ukraine affects the formation of vegetable harvest in the country. "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal plans to regularly inform its subscribers about the influence of such weather on the production volumes and prices for certain crops.

There is no secret in the fact that most part of vegetables is still produced on the private households, though the quantity of the professional growers in the production structure is growing quite rapidly. According to the experts' evaluations, these producers will suffer from the greatest losses. The central regions of Ukraine, Polissya zone will be significantly affected because of hot weather: vegetables are traditionally produced there without irrigation. Most professional producers have irrigation systems in the southern regions of the country, so that they can hope for a good vegetable harvest even in a droughty year.

To the opinion of the analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal, the drought will not seriously affect the harvest of early vegetables and berries, because most of these plantings are grown with the application of drip irrigation. Also, the producers are harvesting these crops right now. So, at the present moment the situation is possible that the prices for some types of medium vegetables will be higher than the prices for early produce.
