Sweet cherry season will start this week in Ukraine

Sweet cherry producers in the southern regions of Ukraine inform ""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal" that the beginning of sweet cherry harvest (early varieties) will start in the end of this week. However, the producers say that the bulk harvesting of sweet cherry will start not earlier than in two weeks.

To the opinion of the market players, the prices for sweet cherry may be rather high this year despite of the forecasted increase of sweet cherry production. In 2006 first wholesale shipments of sweet cherry entered the market late May; the average wholesale price for sweet cherry was around $2/kg that time.
