Price decrease for strawberry takes place in Poland

""Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" journal" informs that the prices for strawberry have decreased 5-10% in average since the previous week due to the increasing supply of this berry on market. The prices of the fresh market are traditionally higher than the prices set by processors; that's why the price decrease was the most obvious exactly in this segment.

Strawberry processors (the companies - producers of flash frozen products) are now purchasing berries for $0.5-0.76/kg. The higher price is set for quality berries with no hulls. However, Poland severely lacks now labor resources, so that the supply of strawberry with no hulls remains insufficient even despite of a significantly higher price.

So, the supply of strawberry grows on the fresh market pressing the prices down. It is possible that the volumes of strawberry processing will considerably decline this year in Poland on the background of a rather large supply of strawberry to the fresh market. Due to the relatively low price fresh strawberry of Polish origin starts to enjoy demand on the export markets too.
