Hundreds of thousand tons of fruits from CIS countries enter Russian Federation market without any control
The season of fruit tourism to Kazakhstan and Kirghizia started in Kurgan region of Russian Federation, Press Service of Kurgan Custom Office informed ЕАN agency. More than five thousands of passengers departed from the near-border Petukhovo railway station in the first half of July; two thousands of passengers used the electric trains of the suburban traffic with Kazakhstan.
Cheap melons, watermelons, apples and peaches entering on Kazakhstan markets may explain the growth of the passenger traffic. The electric trains to Petropavlovsk of the neighboring Republic are the most popular. The resellers of vegetables and fruits react at lightning speed. The accurately established links among the resellers provide huge profits for both trading parties. Watermelons cost $0.31/kg in Petropavlovsk; but the same product is as expensive as $0.82/kg in Kurgan.
The sales price for apricots, plums, and melons are also increased two-threefold; the harvest of these fruits is very high this year. To our regret, the sales of the agricultural products are not controlled by sanitary and tax services. This way hundreds of thousand tons of fruits from various CIS regions come in small shipments to Russian market in summer.
