Increasing supplies of Polish vegetables presses the prices down in western regions of Ukraine
CIS produce business periodical, "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly informs, the sharply increased supplies of Polish vegetables on the wholesale and retail markets of Western Ukraine result in the gradual price decline for the most vegetables in this region. According to estimations of the journal's analysts, at the present moment vegetable prices are lower in western regions of Ukraine than in the other areas of the country.
The traditional local vegetable crops, such as carrot, cabbage, table beet and potato are in average 30-40% as cheap on SHUVAR wholesale market in Lviv than on FARMER wholesale market in Kyiv. The prices, recorded on SHUVAR market are higher than the prices on BRONISZE market, the largest wholesale market in Poland. We'd also like to point out that the price difference for vegetables in Poland and on the wholesale markets in Ukraine make us doubt the full legacy of vegetable imports from Poland.
