Rainfalls hamper vegetable and potato harvesting in Western Ukraine
The specialists of CIS produce business periodical, "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly inform with the reference to vegetable producers in Western Ukraine that lots of rainfalls significantly complicate the harvesting of potato, table beet, carrot, onion and other vegetable crops. As a consequence of the higher moisture content many producer are just unable to enter the fields, although they are ready to start harvesting process.
Despite of the slow progress of harvesting campaign, the prices for vegetables remain relatively low in most areas of this region. The analysts explain this fact by the increased vegetable supplies from Poland where the producers expect vegetable and potato harvest to noticeably increase this year, according to "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" data. Right now the prices for the majority of vegetables but for onion are significantly lower in Poland than in Ukraine.
