Supplies of Chinese fruits to Russia increased sharply in September

The growth trend of fruit and vegetable exports via custom checkpoint Suyfenkhe in Heyluntszyan province (Northern-Eastern China) was resumed in September, Sinkhua agency informs. According to custom statistics, during the first ten days of September around 830 tons of fruits have been to Russia via Suyfenkhe point. The fruit export volume reached 520 tons during one day, September the 10th - that was the top record in the checkpoint history.

Starting from the third decade of August new quarantine standards have been introduced on Suyfenkhe checkpoint in order to secure the quality of fruits and vegetables which are supplied to Russia. According to these standards the enterprises-exporters should provide the certificates justifying the origin of fruits and vegetables, and also information about plants where the produce was packed. Otherwise the quarantine service won't accept the exports application forms.

New measures resulted in somewhat decreased volumes of Chinese supplies; however, the majority of the national enterprises-exporters understand the necessity of these measures. They have started to pay more attention to the quality of the supplied volumes. As a result, the growth of fruit and vegetable exports to Russia was resumed in September.

Suyfenkhe is a border city on Chinese-Russian boundary. In 2006 the volumes of exports and imports performed via this checkpoint amounted to $ 3.71 billion; the number of tourists has reached 590,000 people.
