Increasing potato supply from Rovenskaya and Volynskaya regions presses the prices down

The market players inform CIS produce business periodical "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly, the volumes of potato supply continue increasing in the western regions of Ukraine. Greater shipments of potato are offered for sale in Rovenskaya and Volynskaya regions. The wholesalers are actively purchasing potato from the population and in farms in these regions and also in Lvovskaya and Ivano-Frankovskaya regions.

At the present moment large shipments of potato are supplied for $0.15/kg in western regions of Ukraine; potato is purchased for lower price from the population. The average price for potato amounts to $0.23/kg on SHUVAR wholesale market in Lvov. At the same time, the wholesale prices for potato reach $0.27-0.33/kg on the East and South of Ukraine; Crimean potato is sold for $0.59/kg in average.

The producers will learn about more detailed perspectives of modern production technologies and post harvest handling of potato during the fourth international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2007. Meeting New Leader", to be held on December 4th-6th 2007 on the territory of the National Complex "Expocenter of Ukraine" in Kyiv.
