In 2007 the most dramatic decline of vegetable production in 8 recent years is forecasted in Ukraine - "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits"

The updated Production and Price Forecast for fruits and vegetables in the season 2007/08, prepared by the analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly, proves that vegetable production (excluding potato) may decline 13% in 2007.

"This is the record decline of the volumes of vegetable production for the recent 8 years in Ukraine", Andriy Yarmak, the Head of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" project says. "Vegetable production has been performing the stable growth trend in recent years; the annual increase amounted to 7%. Vegetable production declined 1% just once during this period - in 2001", the expert continues.

To the opinion of A. Yarmak, the main reason of the reduced vegetable production in 2007 was the unfavorable weather conditions. And, to the addition, we witness now the reconsideration of this business connected to the market saturation and the need to transfer from the production pattern to the marketing pattern of the market. The serious changes are observed now not only in production, but also in the processing, trade spheres, as well as in the sphere of inputs and equipment supplies.
