Russian market of canned produce has increased 400% during 6 years

The volume of Russian market of canned fruits&vegetables amounted to around $1.7-1.8 billion in 2006, according to estimations done by Victor Golinka, the Director of West Bridge Ltd company. These figures were presented in his report during the second international conference "Fruit&Vegetable Business of Russia 2007. Wealth of New Opportunities". This amount has increased 5 times since 2000. Green pea (around 25%), corn (20%) and canned cucumbers (18%) occupy the greatest shares in canned vegetable production.

Despite of the significantly increased imports in the recent years, the volume of canned produce consumption is very small comparing to the same parameter in EU countries and USA. Around 4 kg of canned fruits and vegetables per capita is consumed in Russia; this data amount to 17 kg/year in EU and 50 kg/year in USA.
