Vegetable got 65% more expensive in AR Crimea comparing to previous year
General Statistics Department of Autonomous Republic Crimea informed RBK-Ukraine that the prices for agricultural products increased 18% in October 2007 in Crimea. Simultaneously the volume of agri-products sales declined 1% on city markets of Crimea comparing to the same period of time past year.
The prices for vegetables have increased 65% since the previous year on the city markets of Crimea. Past month the sellers traded fresh tomatoes and carrot for twice as high price than in October 2006. Fresh cabbage costs 75% as more expensive, the price for table beet is 64% as more expensive than in October 2006, pickled cucumbers - + 43%, pickled tomatoes - + 22%, onion - +12%.
According to the analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits", despite of the unique climate, AR Crimea is one of the regions suffering from the deficit for fruits and vegetables the most. The deficit for vegetables is the most severe - these products are predominantly supplied from Khersonskaya region to Crimea. The farmers from western and northern regions of Ukraine supply such vegetables like table beet, cabbage and potato to Crimea. The deficit for fruits & vegetables is greater only in two regions of Ukraine than in Crimea: they are Donetskaya region and Kyiv.
