Invitation for the journalists to the press conference dedicated to the opening of the largest international conference of fruit and vegetable business in Eastern Europe

Vegetables and fruits have been almost the main guilty of the inflation growth in Ukraine and Russia this year. Actually, the price for greenhouse vegetables was twice as high this fall than a year ago, and cabbage was almost threefold as expensive in summer 2007 than at the same period in 2006. Why did the price increase? Will Ukrainians afford buying fruits and vegetables in winter? What will be the prices 2008, how will the possible Ukraine's entrance to WTO influence the prices and fruit & vegetable business in general?

The leading experts of fruit and vegetable business from 15 countries will answer to these and other questions on the 4th-6th of December 2007, during the fourth international conference-exhibition "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2007. Meeting New Leader", organized by "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" project and the National Complex "Expocenter of Ukraine". The specialized international exhibition "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2007" is also conducted in the framework of the conference.

"Ukraine obtained a huge advantage over the other countries of Eastern Europe in the development of fruit & vegetable business. Unlike these countries, Ukraine has an effective non-governmental system of market information available to all market players", Andriy Yarmak, the head of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" says. "The name of our conference in 2007 has a phrase "Meeting New Leader", which is not an occasional choice. Ukraine has rushed to the cohort of powerful fruit & vegetable states of Europe, I mean Poland, Spain, Italy, France, Holland, and Germany. Actually, our country became the leader in Europe as for the growth rates of fruit & vegetable business", A. Yarmak continues.

Fruit and vegetable business continued to build up this year despite of unfavorable weather conditions which led to the most significant reduction of vegetable production for the recent 7 years in Ukraine. Professionals continued developing technologies, created new branches and trends, constructed new processing enterprises. New players came into play in almost all segments of this business. Possibly, because of the mentioned facts the largest professional conference in Eastern Europe is conducted here in Ukraine. This event annually gathers the specialists from 15-20 countries. The conference is the source of knowledge, the stimulus of new ideas, the source of inspiration for hundreds of Ukrainian and foreign enterprises. The status of the event is confirmed also by a very high level of participants and the sponsors of the event.

The general sponsor of the conference is Ukrainian representative company of Israeli company "Netafim", the inventor and world leader of drip irrigation systems and greenhouse technologies. The national sponsor of the conference is "Olvita" company, one of the hugest Ukrainian fruit and vegetable companies. The official trade sponsor of the conference is the largest food market of Ukraine, created according to European standards - Regional agrarian center "Shuvar" in Lvov. The sponsors of the conference are Russian "Phytomag" company which created the revolutionary technology of quality and freshness preservation, and "Unifer" company, one of the largest Ukrainian distributors of inputs, seeds, drip irrigation systems, equipment and machinery for production of fruits and vegetables. The company was created jointly with "Chumak" company for the development of vegetable production technologies in Ukraine ("Chumak" sold its share to the company past year). You will find out the details of the conference here.
