Onion is going expensive in Donetskaya and Luganskaya regions
The monitoring specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly inform, the trend of price growth for onion has been traced on the East of Ukraine. Since the previous week the prices for onion have increased 25-35% in Donetskaya region and 15% in Luganskaya region.
The specialists point out that the prices for quality onion are predominantly increasing - the fact is, the volumes of quality onion are very limited on market this year. In the whole, according to the estimation of the analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits", onion production in Ukraine has significantly reduced in 2007 in Ukraine. This situation will inevitably have effect on the prices.
The price forecast for onion in the coming months and in the next season in Ukraine was presented during the fourth international conference "Fruits and Vegetables of Ukraine 2007. Meeting New Leader" which took place past week in Kyiv. The presentation plus the forecast will also be available for the subscribers of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" in one of January issues of the journal.
