New record of apple exports from Ukraine will be set in 2007 thanks to the increased supplies to Poland and Hungary

The analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly inform, the increased apple production in Ukraine in 2007 resulted in the increased exports of apple shipments from Ukraine on the background of the simultaneous price growth for this product in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.

In October the exports of Ukrainian apples reached the record level - it amounted to 11,200 tons for the total sum of $3.4 mln. It total, more than 22,000 tons of apples have been exported since the beginning of this year. But, only 6,200 tons of apples were exported past year. The previous record of apple exports was observed in 2005 when our country exported around 19,000 tons.

In the previous years Ukraine exported apples mostly to Russia and Belarus; this season the largest buyers of Ukrainian apple were Hungary, Poland and Austria. The other importers of Ukrainian apples were Russia, Czech Republic, Belarus and Slovakia.

Ukraine mostly exports dessert apples to CIS countries and commercial apples to Hungary, Poland and Austria. Ukrainian suppliers had an opportunity to get almost 50% as high price for commercial apple than Ukrainian processing enterprises were able to pay.
