Russia: deficit for rucola stimulates price increase

The representatives of wholesale companies inform the specialists of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits", the deficit for rucola is observed on Russian Federation market, so the prices for this lettuce increased on the inner market. As of today, the wholesale price for Israeli rucola is $11.45-12.67/kg on Russian market depending on transportation expenses. One week earlier the sales of Israeli fresh herbs were performed for $10.63-11.86/kg.

The supplies of rucola from Israel to Russian market have significantly reduced since the beginning of this week. The most suppliers of Israeli fresh herbs inform, this circumstance was predetermined by unfavorable weather conditions in Israel. As a result, rucola production reduced, and the demand from the side of European wholesale companies increased.

Earlier, European companies partly purchased rucola in Italy, but the imports from Italy are suspended at this moment in view of the closed border as a consequence of unstable political situation in the country. European companies purchase lettuce for higher price than Russian companies, so that Israeli producers choose for the representatives of Europe.
