Ukraine: onion exports are 6.7 times as high this season than a year ago

The analysts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly inform, in July-October Ukraine exported more than 5,200 tons of onion. This amount is 6.7 times as high than the onion volume exported in the same period of time past year. The top record volumes for October were exported this year - 2,100 tons of onion. Past year onion exports did not exceed 300 tons of onion this month.

Nevertheless, according to the forecasts of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" analysts, the volumes of onion exports will start reducing in November-December, because the prices for this product have already equaled in Ukraine and Russia. This season no supplies of Ukrainian onion were performed to EU countries; this circumstance is predetermined by the increased onion production in EU and price decline for this product. At the present moment onion prices are lower in Poland than in Ukraine. Moreover, in the recent weeks Poland and Holland have almost fully forced Ukraine out of Russian onion market.

The detailed statistics of onion exports and imports, as well as other types of produce in Ukraine and Russia are available for the subscribers of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits".
