Ukraine: purchasing prices for pepper doubled

Prices for bell pepper in the current season are up twice as compared to the indices of the last year, reported representatives of processing enterprises to the specialists of Fruit-Inform project. At the moment processors declare purchasing prices at the level of 0.79 euro/kg, whereas during the same period of the last year, the prices did not exceed the level of 0.39 euro/kg. According to market operators, the main reason is reduction of lands under the crop. Also, agrarian producers reported that unfavorable weather conditions during the ripening period negatively influenced yield. Processors are reassured that this situation would cause price increase for finished commodities.
