Russia: prices for onion and carrot down compared to the last year

In 2008 Russia harvested a record onion crop. At that, its quality is considered as very high, reported Tatyana Getman, Editor-in-Chief of the weekly "Agrooglyaf: Fruits and Vegetables" during the Third international conference "Fruit and vegetable business of Russia-2008" on November, 5 in Moscow.

To date, prices for onion decreased by 30% compared with the lasy year that can be explained by increase of domestic production. Also, Russia sees decrease of imports by 17%.

According to the ofrecasts of T. Getman, prices for onion will reduce in April, 2009.

This autumn, prices for carrot are 10-15% down, at that reduction in prices is forecasted for April by 20%.
