Ukraine: record price decreasing for cabbage
According to monitoring data, conducted by the specialists of Fruit-Inform project, prices for cabbage decreased. At the moment, prices are declared within a range of 0.03- 0.08 euro/kg. The same low prices were recorded in November 2004 when cabbage overproduction was observed in Ukraine.
Despite so substantial reduction in prices, most agrarians have difficulties with sales. Producers consider that overproduction of cabbage is the main reason of the current situation. Low demand from wholesale and retail companies which had to reduce purchasing volumes in the conditions of unfavorable economic situation is the additional factor of price decreasing.
The most important trends of cabbage market and other fruit and vegetable markets in Ukraine will be discussed during the Fifth International Conference "Fruits & Vegetables of Ukraine 2008". To participate in the conference, an application form should to be filled.
