Russia: production of canned tomatoes decreased

According to data of Russian Statistics Committee, in November 2008, production of canned tomatoes decreased by 22 %, compared to the same period of 2007 and totaled 66.7 mln conditional jars (mcj). Particularly, production of tomato sauce and tomato juice decreased by 42 % and 23 % respectively, production of tomato paste and puree increased by 45 %, compared to the same period of 2007.

During 11 months of the last year, 924.4 mcj of canned tomato were produced that is up 2.3 %, compared to the same period of 2007. In particular, 461.8 mcj of tomato juice, 116 mcj of tomato paste and puree were produced that is down 13% and up 46%, compared to the same period of 2007 respectively.
