Ukraine sharply decreased fruit imports
According to analysts of Fruit-Inform, complicated situation at Ukrainian customs led to sharp decrease of fruit import volumes during last 2-3 weeks. This did not take long to have an effect on prices for fruits, as they sharply increased.
Currently, wholesale prices for lemons are 1.5 times higher than in the previous year. Prices for apples and grapes are approximately the same times higher. Bananas rose by one third in price, tangerines and oranges – by 20%.
According to Anrey Yarmak, Head of the project Fruit-Inform, Ukrainian party dangerously plays with WTO that may lead to imposing serious penalty sanctions on Ukraine, if it turns out that our country de facto uses indicative, obviously overrated, prices for evaluation of market value of goods. Besides this, authorities dangerously play with Ukrainian consumers, as they may be forced to pay two times higher prices for fruits and vegetables to close gaps in budget, whereas prices for other foods growing too.
