Ukrainian onion producers do not want to run risks

Producers are rather prudent in storage of onions during this season. Notwithstanding that onions are 2 times higher in price than in the previous year, significant part of farms thinks that selling of all gathered harvest at current price would be the most rational decision. According to them, during this season, storage of onions makes sense only in case that prices for produce will not be lower than UAH 6/kg (EUR 0.58/kg) in the second half of the season. But this can not be guaranteed. Furthermore, onions are of bad quality, and this only increases risks of sustaining losses from long-term storage.
