Fruit and veg prices keep on growing in Ukraine

Fruit and vegetable index of Fruit-Inform shows that cost of fruit and vegetable basket of a Ukrainian consumer increased by another 2% within the last week after increase by 12% during the previous week.

Glass-grown vegetables were the main reason of increase of cost of fruit and vegetable basket again. Notwithstanding continuous decrease of their share in the basket (as a result of drop in consumption), 37% increase in prices for cucumbers was determinative.

At the same time, borsch vegetables kept on decreasing in price. Ukrainian borsch fell in price approximately by 1% due to slight decrease of prices for carrots and beetroot.

As for cost of fruit basket, it has not changed, notwithstanding changes of prices for almost all fruits. Decrease of prices for citrus fruits (lemons, tangerines, and oranges) by 5% within a week was fully leveled by growth of prices for table grapes.
