Vegetable production in Lviv oblast can and has to be profitable
Such a conclusion could be drawn by the participants of the Field day "Modern production and marketing technologies of the vegetable production" that took place on the 30th of August 2006 in Zibolky village (Zhovkivsky region of Lviv oblast) and was hold by Agricultural Marketing Project(Lviv office). Having such a choice of varieties and hybrids, being armed with information as for modern different production technologies, PHH, packing and storage of horticultural crops, and essential, having such great sales channels, to loose money doing vegetable business is rather difficult.
So, more than 200 varieties and hybrids of horticultural crops from different supplier companies were demonstrated during the Field day. The participants of the event were acquainted with modern vegetable production technologies, possibilities to minimize the productive input to reach optimal quality level and profitability index. Organizers of the Field day demonstrated sorting and packing of the vegetable production - as one of the main marketing instruments of the PHH of the vegetable production. So, vacuum packaging of sugar maize, sorting and packing of potatoes, onions, cucumbers into net-sacks and bunching onions into stretch sheet.
55 representatives of the farms-horticultural producers, 5 leading companies-suppliers of material and technical resources, which production was represented on the demo field, 2 distributors, 1 representative of retail supermarket chains and representatives of the press participated in the Field day.
It is noteworthy, that 2 wholesale companies at once - AGRO-ZAHID and SHUVAR-PRODUKT suggested to Lviv farmers new sales and contract possibilities for potatoes, carrot, beet and other vegetables production. Besides, AGRO-ZAHID Company informed, that it can provide services for qualitative storage of vegetables, which is very valuable for those farmers, who don't have possibility to invest great fund at once into facilities of modern and qualitative vegetable store cellars.
All the participants of the Field day got a complete source book and presentations and consultations from all the specialists, which were present, as for setup of production and sale of the horticultural crops. Consequently, according to Tetyana Lesiv, coordinator of Lviv office of Agricultural marketing project, it has to become one more weighty contribution into development of profitable vegetable farming in the region, which will lead to more effective use of the land, increasing of the farmers' incomings, new job creation and general prosperity of the countryside.
