To buy quality carrot is a hard task on Ukrainian market

According to the information provided by the produce business players, the supply of quality carrot is significantly lower the existing demand on Ukrainian market. As a result, the prices on this commodity are growing. Some producers report about sales of quality produce on $ 0.68-0.78/kg; though the sales volumes are limited.

First sets of the packed quality carrot of Polish origin affect the market of western regions, as the imported carrot costs significantly less. The other negative factor influencing carrot market is that many producers started selling produce from piles which storage quality is relatively low. So, carrot of medium and relatively low quality can be purchased from the producers on $0.39-0.43/kg.

There is information that Ukrainian processing enterprises gave up purchasing carrot for processing needs, as it is probably too difficult to gather large carrot volumes of satisfactory quality. At present moment the Agricultural Marketing Project is surveying the perspectives of carrot production and sales, as well as the other vegetables, fruits and berries. The survey results will be published in April issues of "Agrooglyad: Vegetables and Fruits" weekly journal of the produce business.
