Non-traditional methods of mushroom use will be presented on the conference "Mushroom Industry 2007" in the National Expocenter of Ukraine
The National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine will present a report "Mushrooms as food and as raw material for Pharmacia" in the framework of the conference "Mushroom Industry 2007" to be held on June 12th-14th in Kyiv.
The author will provide the data of the modern investigations and personal research, which let us consider mushrooms as physiologically functional food product and the source of the pharmacologically active substances. Based on the widely cultivated mushroom types, the nutrition value of mushroom is considered as the source of major nutrients, mineral elements and vitamins which human body requires. There are thousands of the bioactive substances found in various types of mushrooms for the first time; some of them provide a noticeable therapeutic effect. The report will cover some examples related to the best studied types of medical mushrooms and the forms of the modern pharmaceutical medications based on such raw materials as fruit bodies and cultural mycelium of edible and inedible medical mushrooms.
The report will be presented by Doctor of Biologic Sciences, Elvira Solomko, the Laureate of the State Award of Ukraine in the sphere of science and technique, the Senior Specialist of Mycology Department, the Institute of Botany named after N.G. Kholodny.
